A client database can contain useful relationships, outdated records and people who should not receive another message. A reactivation service starts by separating those groups. The size of the export is not the size of the opportunity.

Define a relevant audience
Choose a business reason to reconnect: a service normally due again, an unresolved estimate or a customer who previously expressed interest. Confirm whether the records support that reason. A generic “we miss you” campaign may be inappropriate for a one-time purchase or a customer with an unresolved complaint.
Check communication permissions, suppression records and channel requirements with the responsible business owner. Prior contact is not a blanket assumption that every future campaign is appropriate.
Clean the decision fields
Identify the fields needed to select the audience: last service date, service type, status and contact details. Review a sample manually. If dates or labels are unreliable, fix the selection process before launching.
Keep the original data recoverable and document the selection rule. The client should be able to understand why a person was included without inspecting a complicated automation.
Offer a useful next step
The message should explain the relevance and make responding easy. Avoid fabricated urgency or invented personal familiarity. If an offer has a deadline or limitation, verify that it is real and approved.
Agree who handles replies and how quickly they can do so. Start with a manageable group so the business is not overwhelmed by interest it cannot serve. Capacity is part of campaign design.
Use a comparison where practical
If the audience and permissions allow, reserve a suitable comparison group and define the measurement period before sending. Otherwise, report observed responses without treating every subsequent sale as incremental.
Track selected records, messages delivered, replies, qualified opportunities and known sales. Include opt-outs and delivery problems. A campaign can produce revenue while also revealing a list-quality issue that needs attention.
Decide whether it should recur
Some reactivation work is a one-time cleanup. Other businesses have a repeatable service cycle that supports a recurring program. Choose the commercial model based on the actual customer journey, not the agency’s preference for monthly billing.
ScaleGHL’s published offer includes appropriate reactivation where permitted. A portfolio audit should establish both the commercial opportunity and the operational readiness before proposing it to a client.
